In November last year, X-Borer had the pleasure of connecting with a client from the Czech Republic, a well-established company specializing in hydraulic engineering and special foundation construction. With over a decade of experience, their services cover a wide range of infrastructure works, including water supply and drainage systems, micropiles, foundation piles, anchors, vibro-driven piles, grouting projects, excavation support, and structural reinforcement. They are also involved in civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure.
Upon learning about X-Borer’s deep expertise in compact and versatile drilling rigs, the client reached out to source a powerful mini drilling rig suitable for low headroom environments—a key requirement for many of their job sites.
From the first inquiry to final order, the entire purchasing process took only one month, and we successfully completed production and delivery within another month. Today, we are excited to share this custom drilling rig case study and how it met the client’s needs for low-clearance micropile and hydrotechnical applications.
Met Online, Closed at Bauma 2024:1 Month from Hello to Deal
Client Country: Czech Republic
Industry: Hydraulic engineering and special foundation construction
Project Needs: A multifunctional drilling rig capable of operating in confined spaces and suitable for micropile and water-related construction
Partnership Level: First-time cooperation
Client Type: End user / contractor
Although we had been in contact with our Czech client online since November last year, discussing project requirements and providing detailed product solutions, Bauma 2024 was our first opportunity to meet in person. Our professional sales team, together with a senior technical manager with over 20 years of experience in the drilling rig industry, warmly welcomed the client. We had in-depth discussions covering their previously used equipment and brands, technical challenges, proposed solutions, payment terms, and future cooperation models. For our Czech partners, the biggest headache was the severe lack of vertical space. Traditional piling rigs, with their towering masts, were simply out of the question. They needed a solution that was:
Compact: Able to navigate and operate where others couldn't.
Powerful: Capable of drilling to the required depths and diameters without compromise.
Reliable: To keep the project on track and on budget.
The pressure was on to find a machine that could thread this needle.
This meeting left a strong impression on our Czech client. Just a few days after returning home, they placed an order with us.
The FR35 isn’t just a drilling rig — it’s a compact piling machine crafted for jobs where space is limited and precision is non-negotiable. It’s a machine we’ve poured our engineering passion into, specifically for situations like this.
Here’s what made the FR35 the perfect fit:
Its DNA: Tailored for low headroom areas and limited space
Drilling Capacity: Reaching depths of 13 meters (42') and diameters of 1000 mm (39').
Unbelievably Compact: With working dimensions of just 5.0m (L) × 2.3m (W) × 5.0m (H) (16.4’ × 7.5’ × 16.4’), it is ideal for limited spaces like urban areas, under bridges, or low headrooms where larger rigs are impractical
Its Highly Customization: We didn't just offer a standard machine. We listened. Take an example for instance. We discussed their specific ground conditions and the exact height limitations, then fine-tuned the FR35 with a modified mast that squeezed out every possible inch of drilling stroke.
Its Rapid Deployment: It can be produced and delivered in a very short time. (We ever completed one FR35 in 3 weeks)
Its Premium components: Equipped with top-notch components, including Eaton hydraulic hoses, Atlantic hydraulic valves, Rexroth balance valves, and Epec controllers.
Its braided wiring harnesses and DEUTSCH connectors for enhanced stability and durability of electrical connections.
Can be transported with the Kelly bar for easy transport and deployment.
Brief Summarization:
The procurement process moved quickly—the deal was closed within just one month after the client’s initial inquiry. Within the following month, the custom mini drilling rig was fully manufactured, tested, and shipped out, making the total lead time only 60 days.
The machine was delivered to Hamburg Port in Germany, where the client arranged for final inland transportation to their site in the Czech Republic.
To ensure smooth deployment, our technical team provided comprehensive remote support, including operational guidance and training. We also supplied a starter package of spare parts and drilling tools, along with detailed recommendations on drilling methods, rig maintenance, and best practices tailored to their application scenarios.
The true measure of our success is our client's success.
Not long after the rig arrived on site, we received photos from the Czech team—our compact powerhouse drilling confidently under low-clearance beams in a confined construction site. The client praised not only its performance, but also how intuitive it was to operate, even for crews new to the machine.
One of their engineers shared:
"It’s hard to find a rig that’s small enough to fit, but still strong enough to get the job done. This one does both—and does it well."
The drilling rig quickly became a valuable asset in their fleet, helping them stay on schedule for critical foundation work. With that success, the client has already started discussions with us about additional machines and is exploring the potential of becoming our long-term partner in the region
